Now I've come to expect certain behavior from people who go to a midnight opening. At the last two Star Wars movies it was the same crowd dressed up in storm trooper outfits and home made lightsabres. At Harry Potter movies I see people in Hogwarts uniforms and home made beards. Supposedly these fans are people who have a higher appreciation for the film they are about to see and I'm not one to say they aren't. The thing that baffles me is the overwhelming need by many of these fans to defile the moviegoing experience.
Were I a "good enough" fan to dress up in a costume I home brewed from pvc pipe I imagine I would sit silent during the film to which I had so uncomfortably paid tribute to. This further illustrates the fact that I am, obviously, not the same as other people nor would I be if I joined certain other people in their fandom.
The sad truth is that I show up in a white t-shirt with my laptop to do a little work while I wait for the movie to start and when it does I put things away and sit quietly to enjoy all that the movie has to offer while some idiot dressed as a character I've never heard of cheers on whoever may be on screen at the moment.
For those stormtroopers that may be reading; don't clap for the characters every time they say something witty. They cannot hear you. Instead I suggest you write a letter to Mr Lucas and send him nude pictures of yourselves. I'm sure he'd love that.

I love your work so far! Thanks for being original (I still need to do that...
